Tijs Michiel Verwest OON, known professionally as Tiësto, is a Dutch DJ and record producer from Breda, North Brabant. He was named "Greatest DJ of All Time" by Mix magazine in a fan poll. In 2013, he was voted by the readers of DJ Mag as "Best DJ of 20 years". He is also considered the "Godfather of EDM" according to many sources. In 1997, he founded Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink, where he released the CD series Magik and In Search of Sunrise. Tiësto met producer Dennis Waakop Reijers in 1998; the two have worked together a lot since then. From 1998 to 2000, Tiësto collaborated with Ferry Corsten under the name Gouryella. His 2000 remix of Delerium's "Silence" with Sarah McLachlan put him in touch with a larger audience. In 2001, he released his first solo album, In My Memory, which brought him some of the great successes that launched his career.
